Strange and Familar Cities

During a summer in Malaysia, I joined a picture book workshop in Klang, a city about 30 km from Kuala Lumpur and I was the only foreign student in the class. My classmates welcomed me warmly: they shared local snacks, offered rides, and even hosted me at their homes. Through them, I saw glimpses of everyday Malaysian life that ordinary travel would never show.

This zine The Strange and Familiar Cities: Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur grew from that journey—a way to treasure those moments and reflect on the connections between two cities that feel both familiar and strange to me.
